TechConnect researchers training sets the stage for groundbreaking case studies

Preparing our research teams for impactful, real-world studies on human-tech skill complementarity

In late February, researchers from across Europe gathered in Stockholm, Sweden for a three-day training session that marked a major milestone for TechConnect. Hosted by Mälardalen University, the training prepared the consortium’s research teams for the upcoming 12 in-depth case studies that will take place in hospital settings across Ireland, Spain, Sweden, and the Netherlands.

Led by Professors Anette Hallin, Professor Hallin, MIDAS Research Group leader at Mälardalen University, Christoffer Andersson and Chris Ivory, the training equipped teams with the tools, methods and mindset needed to explore how digital technologies and human skills interact in real-world healthcare environments.

The training emphasised TechConnect’s holistic, transdisciplinary approach, highlighting the importance of understanding the organisational, technological and human dynamics behind digital transformation.

With shared learning, commitment, and strong collaboration among researchers, this training has laid a solid foundation for the next phase of the project — one that aims to deliver evidence-based insights to improve how we design, adopt and adapt technologies in the workplace.
