Transforming how healthcare is delivered

From speech recognition to automated patient monitoring, Region Västmanland pioneers within the world of digital healthcare

Discover the latest innovations within healthcare in Region Västmanland, how they are transforming patient care with technologies capable of automating processes and improving both the consistency and effectiveness of care.

They are conducting three case studies within this area, uncovering how these technologies are improving daily tasks and if we are truly utilising technology to its full potential.

The three case studies include:

  • Digital triage system: this system can direct patients to the appropriate healthcare service by sorting through the queue based on urgency, allowing healthcare personal to prioritise critical cases. This system is available as a web application and a downloadable app and includes features such as allowing patients to initiate voice or video calls and upload images for assessment and diagnosis.

  • Automated patient monitoring during treatment:  this is composed of digital tools that can monitor patients’ position and movement particularly during radiotherapy or x-ray examinations. These tools allow part of the process to be automated, ultimately improving efficiency

  • Speech recognition for patient records: this tool transforms speech into patient records, supporting commands like “create new reference” and integrated with other applications, streamlining documentation for healthcare staff.

Can technology really make healthcare safer, smarter, or is it just adding complexity?
